  1. តម ( v ) [tɑɑm]
    to abstain (from / from doing something), to give up, deny oneself of, renounce.
  2. តម ( adj ) [tɑɑm]
    to be tabu / forbidden (esp. of food); to be discreet, careful
    Eg. គ្រូពេទ្យប្រាប់ថាជំងឺនេះត្រូវតមខ្លាញ់: The doctor told (me) that (with) this disease (I) must abstain from eating fats.

    1. ចំណីតម [cɑmnəy tɑɑm] : food that one should not eat, tabu food
    2. តមចំណី [tɑɑm cɑmnəy] : to abstain from eating a certain food
    3. ថ្ងៃតម [tŋay tɑɑm] : day of abstinence
